FROM THE HEART OF LONDON
THE TEAS THAT BIND
From the first landings in Plymouth and Jamestown, to the trade of Pulo Run in the Spice Islands to the Dutch for a small island in the New World named Manhattan, Britain and America share a common heritage. Today, inspired by The East India Company’s British heritage and its voyages through Asia and the Orient, we now have the opportunity to invite you to try a range of gourmet foods and premium, dare we say it, ‘revolutionary’, teas.
THE ROYAL FLUSH
Our Royal Flush Tea is harvested from bushes propagated from the original bush planted by HRH Prince Philip during Queen Elizabeth II’s first royal tour of the Commonwealth after her coronation in 1954. This fine tea was first released in 2012 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, and we were honoured when the tea was served as part of the Royal lunch to mark the event.
THE BOSTON TEA PARTY
It was East India Company tea thrown into Boston Harbour during the (in)famous tea party in 1773, sparking the American Revolution. Our tea master researched the teas being shipped to the colonies at the time, and developed a blend that references the same flavors and textures. Slightly smoky and malty, our Boston Tea Party blend pays homage to a moment that changed the world, and thankfully this tea is anything but taxing.
OUR LONDON HOME
Tradition, Heritage, Tea … words intrinsically linked to our home, London. Our first store and flagship is situated in the heart of London’s Mayfair, set amongst the boutiques of Bond Street and Regent Street. Join us in trendy Covent Garden, at The Royal Exchange in the financial district (where The East India Company stored pepper three hundred years earlier) or in Harrods Food Halls.
And now, for the first time in the US with Neiman Marcus - with locations in Hawaii, California, Texas, Georgia, and Northern Virginia.
THE MERCHANT MARK WITH ROYAL APPROVAL
Our Merchant mark is considered the oldest commercial mark in the world. It was used a stamp of approval and a mark of quality, adorning East India Company tea chests, spice sacks, silverware, and coinage. The mark was combined with our Coat of Arms, granted by Queen Elizabeth I in 1600, upon the Company’s formation.
Today, these marks ensure the same craft, quality, and care in each and every East India Company product we create.
